WHO THE HELL IS CLINT WESTWOOD?

“I’m a pop singer-songwriter based in Richmond, Virginia. I’m deeply inspired by the music of the 70’s and 80’s and I’m a big concert junkie. I’ve loved performing ever since I was a kid. In fact, my stage debut was at 3 years old in my church’s children’s choir. I feel a deep passion for music and I’m so grateful I get to write songs. In 2024, I graduated with a bachelors in Vocal Performance from Shenandoah University. After graduation I moved to Richmond, and I’ve been creating music that has empowered me to be an authentic version of myself. My writing has become very honest, and I suppose quite provocative… In 2026, I gathered my band, consisting of friends and collaborators, and we’ve been working hard to create an unforgettable live show.”

“I love creating music that makes you want to dance. ‘Put Your Hips Into It!’ is just that. It’s a high-energy anthem, made for you to move to. I love writing about real things that I’ve gone through, but it's always more fun to be a bit tongue-in-cheek with it. Writing and performing give me the perfect opportunity to express myself. Clint Westwood is a persona, and also a vehicle for me to speak my truth. My music is pro-sex, pro-god, and pro-gay.  My goal is to create music on a LARGE scale. I’m from a small town so sometimes I struggle truly believing that it’s possible. I get a little existential sometimes. Only God knows what’s yet to come.”

WHO ARE YOUR MUSICAL INSPIRATIONS?

“When I’m writing I’m always referencing music from the 70’s and 80’s. Lots of Donna Summer, Kool & The Gang, Barry Manilow, and Earth, Wind & Fire. Honestly that’s the music my mom would sing and play for me when I was a kid. I listen to a lot of pop too. It sort of consumes me. I love Sabrina Carpenter. Her wit really captives me. My top tier is her, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Madonna, Dua Lipa, Kali Uchis, Troye Sivan, and Chappell Roan. I really love Slayyyter and Doechii too. Just to name a few. They’re all insane live.”

WHAT INSPIRES YOUR VISUAL IDENTITY AS A MUSICIAN? 

“My stage attire honestly isn’t far off of how I normally dress. I’m sort of always in shorts and socks. I love being able to move around. A lot of the photography comes from my love of vintage images. I love backgrounds that feel timeless. I love to shoot in the middle of a field and looking a little out of place. Sometimes you just have to make it up as you go, and sometimes you have to be intentional.”

Curfman released debut song Aug. 28

Roaring Spring native Clint Curfman, now known as Clint Westwood, participated in dance classes and community theater growing up. Courtesy photo

Roaring Spring native Clint Curfman was destined for the stage.

His experience performing goes back to dance recitals at Nichole Showalter's School of Dance, acting roles in musicals at local playhouses, and home performances in his living room for loved ones.

"Music is a big part of my life, and it brings me a lot of joy," he said.

Now going by the stage name Clint Westwood, he released his debut song, "Put Your Hips Into It!" on Aug. 28, blending 1970s disco and pop. His song is available on music streaming platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify.

As someone who moved to Richmond, Virginia, to chase his pop music career, he said taking a gamble on your dreams will make you proud.

"If it's someone else's reality, there's no reason it can't be yours, too," he said.
